Excellent

  • Blood pressure
    • Treated with only one medication for ages 40 and over.
    • Average is below 130/80 for age 45 or less.
    • Average is below 135/85 for ages 46 and above.
  • Cholesterol
    • Total cholesterol: Lower than 250.
    • Cholesterol/HDL ratio: Below 4.5.
  • Family history
    • No parent or sibling has died due to coronary artery disease, heart attack, stroke or cancer before age 60.
    • Not applicable if you're 65+.

Very Good

  • Blood pressure
    • Treated with only one medication for ages 35 and over.
    • Average is below 135/85 for age 45 or less.
    • Average is below 141/86 for ages 46 and above.
  • Cholesterol
    • Total cholesterol: Lower than 250.
    • Cholesterol/HDL ratio: Below 5.5.
  • Family history
    • No parent or sibling has died due to coronary artery disease, heart attack, stroke or cancer before age 60.
    • Not applicable if you're 60+.

Good

  • Blood pressure
    • Controlled with two or more medications for age 35 or less.
    • Average is below 146/91 for all ages.
  • Cholesterol
    • Total cholesterol: Lower than 275.
    • Cholesterol/HDL ratio: Below 6.6.
